Ipad Emails are Short!

Howdy!
That cruise looks amazing! I actually got your e-mail when church
ended and I was grateful to enjoy it yesterday!
My week was pretty good, we have this awesome family that we are
teaching who are so ready for the gospel! We visited them on Tuesday,
and they gave us dinner, then we asked them if they knew what they had
learned to be true, watched a video of Christs baptism, and invited
them to be baptized! Now it is time for them and continuing to help
them to feel the spirit. We went by again on Sunday night and we had a
barbecue of bacon wrapped hot dogs! It was awesome! A couple from our
ward came with us as well and really connected with the family in
English and Spanish!
This week wasn’t terrible eventful besides the amazing family. We are
teaching a lot of lessons, and each week we have seen how it gets
better and better. Texas is getting hotter as well, some days it gets
to about 100 like right now it is 93.
I am currently at the Bell house with the zone leaders as well. Elder

Missionary Birthday

Thank you so much for the awesome birthday! Also! For the super
delicious cake! It was probability a little compressed but tasted
great! What’s it made of? I liked how it was different layers of
color, did you get to eat some before you sent it?
This week was pretty cool. We had some awesome lessons and I am really
beginning to understand what it means to be bold and love as the
savior loves. We found like seven new families and people to start
teaching as well!
Also, Texas. Still Texas. It is supposed to be summer but we have had
heavy rain two days then scorching heat the rest!
For example, yesterday we were out in a trailer park with dirt roads
in the shining Texas sun, we saw a Hispanic guy mowing his lawn so,
boom, contact. We went over and started talking with him, he wasn’t
too open at first, but then it started to rain, so he invited us
inside and just opened up with his spiritual questions. It is a pretty
cool experience to watch someone just open up about religion and trust
you as a spiritual man.
Also, though it was scary and strange to think about home, I am pretty
excited to go on a cruise! Why does life feel like it is going by so
fast?
So we had an awesome lesson with a less active lady and her non-member
neighbor! We want with a super cool couple and while we were teaching
the plan of salvation when her home teachers showed up! It was nice to
have everyone participate and share their testimonies, but it felt
more like a gospel principles class than a lesson…

So the person who texted the picture for Father’s Day is sister bell!
She is super cool and missionary minded!

I hope you have a great week! I was updating my iPad every once and
awhile to see if ya’ll had sent anything and it was a great joy to see
that you had!
I love you!

It’s You’re Birthday, You Got an Ipad (to borrow anyway)

Thank you for the birthday song mom! I thought is sounded great! Also,
Congrats on graduating! I think that it is super awesome, and
probably a great relief right??

So to answer your question, I can read e-mails every day, I just need
to get into a wifi hotspot and they will upload automatically. So you
could send me a daily journal if you wanted too, that would be
awesome! Sadly I can only write back on Mondays. I hope that answers
the question.

This week we had an awesome time! Elder Brown left on Wednesday, but
based off of a picture a member showed us from his Facebook he looks
very happy. Elder Beckert came and he has great energy! He is the
district leader and seems to know what he is doing. We are using the
iPad’s really well as well for planning and teaching. We found several
new families. One was on their doorstep and we had decided to go by
since I had contacted them before. When. We got there, we pulled up,
and the husband, wife, and three kids were all outside on the porch,
we started a conversation that was very spiritual, then we started to
teach. They were really open and receptive! They are just one of the
many families we have been able to find or lead to. I have confidence
we will baptize here.

Yesterday the stake had a stake wide priesthood meeting so there
wasn’t any Sunday school classes just sacrament meeting at 9. We came
back at 3 and had a meeting for an hour, then all of the priesthood in
the stake went out and visited members in a form of rescue visits. Our
ward visited over 60 homes as they went off 2 by 2. Us and the English
missionaries got referrals for part member families! It was awesome.
We also went and visited with people ourselves with one of the
me,bears that wanted advice on how to teach, we visited four homes
though the list they gave us had three houses. We visited literally
every name on the ward roster that nobody knows and asked them if they
want to come back to church, home teachers, etc. it was such a
spiritual event for everyone involved, those who were visited, members
or not.

Also this week I got an awesome package from grandma! I hope it isn’t
living since I put it in the fridge. It said to keep cool hahaaha.
I will also eagerly await the cake and package from you! I love hall
so much and I am so grateful for su bondad a enviarme una caja! You
really are the best.

I will let y’all know how this week goes
Love ya!

Ipad training. Where's Waldo?

Ipad training. Where’s Waldo? (yup that’s him, front middle. I guess seniority has it’s perks!)

My shoes are nearly dead…

Happy Monday!

I am proud of Tayler for being the First Assistant in the Priest Quorum, I hope he uses it as an opportunity to reach out to others and strengthen the Quorum. I am grateful for Bishop Holmes as well, he is an amazing person, and I am glad that he is our Bishop.

This week was pretty cool! Not too unusual, except for the fact that we have iPads! We got them on Wednesday and it has been so strange! We had a meeting where the Assistants came and district by district we were given iPads, taught how to set them up to the church’s systems, then we had some trainings on how to effectively use them. So what happens is I got a refurbished iPad, meaning that it has been used in other missions and now it is here! I will keep it until the end of the mission, then return it so they have spares in case someone breaks their own and needs a replacement while a new one comes in. The people who had to pay $400 for theirs do keep them. I can check my e-mail any day of the week now, but I have to have wi-fi which is a bit scarce in Weatherford, i.e. we have to go to the church building or McDonalds to use it. I still will  only e-mail on Mondays, but like letters, I can read them anytime of the week, so you could totally e-mail daily pictures or stuff like that during the week as well!

Yes, Elder Brown se va el Miercoles. It will be strange, since he is the second companion I “have sent home” (“killed” in missionary terms). I don’t think it has set in yet for him just how little time he has left, but I am sure his family has reminded him… BTW please don’t do that, the other missionaries, ward members, and some investigators seem to do it to the nearly finished missionary anyways.

I will be staying here in Weatherford, and Elder Beckert will be coming here! He is the Elder from Mexico and now we will serve together! It should be awesome!

So if you are planning to send a birthday box pleaase send it to the same address at 202 College park Dr. #209 Weatherford Tx. (Same address)

My shoes are nearly dead, I have worn them pretty well on the heels, so I am trying to walk so I wear them evenly now.

I have about 15 shirts, 4 pairs of pants, garments are doing alright, I don’t know how but I havent had a lot of wear and tear on my clothing. And I found out that dish soap takes the “bacon neck” off of the collars.

I am happy, have fun! Let me know how the week goes!
Love!

Hurray for Ipads

I dont really want to believe that it is already June! Time is slipping right through my grasp.
So yes I will be getting an Ipad, everyone except my companion and all the other missionaries going home in a week and a half, poor guy, his family keeps telling him how many days he has left.
I will be able to read e-mails at all times, but I will only be able to respond on P-day, just like a hand written letter. It means I will probabily take it with me instead of paper scriptures in most cases. Eventually it means this mission will be virturally connected. Getting into the gated communities of the cyberspace as a member of the seventy put it.

Speaking of which, on Wednesday Elder Nielson of the Seventy came to our mission and the whole mission got together. He is the one who gave the General Conference talk on the Prodigal son and our own families. He taught us the reasons, why and how we can use these iPads as tools and not be their tool. He taught about the principle of agency, when we make a covenant, be it baptism or in the temple we are “signing a contract to invest our agency”. The end result being that we will receive all that the Father has! However, if decide not to keep the commandments, it isn’t exercising agency, we already invested that, it is covenant breaking. Just like a contract, breaking a covenant breaks the deal with the Lord. I guess he made it a lot more serious enough, but it was so spiritually powerful. He taught us to be Agents unto the Lord. How in 2 Nephi 2:14 we learn there were things created to act and to be acted upon. Things like trees, plants, the earth, cant act by themselves, they dont voluntarily become tables and desks and such. Yet we are to act, to take up our agency and use it. He told us how Elder Perry, had taught him the principle that resting our agency is still using our agency, it is just the most unproductive and usually aids the enemy in his plans. Stay busy!  I took about 8 pages of notes on his talks and Elder Mills from the missionary department in Salt Lake. So that was an awesome and spiritually filled meeting! I treasure what I learned and felt i could share it with you.

On Tuesday we met a new investigator since our plans fell  through due to the storm, her name is Elane and she is super awesome! We met her with a family that we asked to come teach with us. They really connected and became friends. Elane decided she wanted to investigate and came to church on Sunday! That was wonderful to see the ward take her in and welcome her so kindly! We got the bishop and he introduced himself to her! I realize now that anyone new to the church needs a welcome by anyone and everyone, else, they will not stay or ever come back.

We are teaching about 3 different families regulairly now as well! As well as Elane. This area has huge potential and as we keep finding we will keep moving forward!

I hope you have a great week! I love you and am grateful for all the support yall give me and everyone though you are so busy!

Love
Elder Grant Hagen
